Surf lessons at La Santa, Lanzarote — Kaboti Surf

Surf School La Santa, Lanzarote

Consistent Atlantic swell, variety of breaks for all levels — La Santa is one of Lanzarote's most reliable surf spots

La Santa — Lanzarote's Surf Capital

La Santa sits on the northwest coast of Lanzarote, just south of Famara, and is known throughout Europe as one of the island's most reliable surf destinations. Home to Club La Santa — a professional multi-sport resort that attracts elite athletes year-round — the area has a dedicated surf culture that sets it apart from the tourist resorts on the east coast.

Kaboti Surf has been teaching and running guided trips at La Santa for over 15 years. The northwest coast picks up Atlantic swell reliably from autumn through spring, and La Santa offers a variety of breaks — from beginner-friendly beach break to more advanced reef sections — that allow us to match the spot to your ability and the conditions on the day.

Transport from Playa Blanca is included in the full lesson price. La Santa is roughly 80km from our base — the drive crosses some of the most dramatic volcanic landscape on the island, including the lava fields of Timanfaya.

Surf Conditions at La Santa

What makes La Santa special — and when we choose it

Wave Variety

La Santa has multiple breaks within a short distance. Beach break sections work for beginners; the more exposed points and reefs are reserved for intermediate and advanced surfers.

Best Wind

South and southwest winds are offshore along most of the La Santa coast, creating clean conditions. The area is slightly more sheltered than Famara in strong north trades.

Best Swell

Northwest to west swell at 1–3m is ideal. La Santa is often a good alternative when Famara is too big or too crowded — it picks up the same swell but the breaks are slightly more forgiving.

Season

Most consistent from October to April. Summer months can be flat but occasionally receive small south swells. Year-round surf culture means the area always has activity.

All Levels

We bring beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers to La Santa — we simply choose different sections of the coast based on your level and the day's conditions.

Quieter than Famara

La Santa tends to be less crowded than Famara on the same swell. When Famara's main peak is packed, we often find better quality, emptier waves here.

Check La Santa Conditions

La Santa and Famara pick up very similar swell — we use the same Windguru spot to assess both. Look for northwest swell at 1.5m+ and south wind. When both align, expect excellent conditions at La Santa.
